Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car maker, posted a 1% increase in net profit to 1,371.6 crore for the September quarter as volumes rose and sales promotion and marketing expenses declined. Net sales rose 9.7% to 17,689.3 crore, amid a revival in passenger vehicle demand as the lockdown was eased. Operating profit rose 71.7% to Rs.1,167.7 crore on account of higher sales volume and cost reduction efforts, partially offset by the increase in commodity prices and adverse foreign exchange movement.
