Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SI) will have about 200 million doses of the AstraZeneca-University of Oxford vaccine (Covishield) ready by January, according to sources. And, if it receives the requisite approvals from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), it can start supplying for the local vaccination drive. In fact, SII will ramp up capacity to make 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per month by then, and about 50 per cent of that will be for India.
